Man dies of injuries 5 days after downtown Long Beach stabbing, suspect arrested

James Plummer, a 72-year-old man from South Gate, was stabbed in downtown Long Beach on April 1 and later died of his injuries. The suspect, Cary Odell Singletary, was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is considering filing murder charges. No motive for the attack has been disclosed.
