Luis Gil, a Yankees right-hander, performed well in his final spring training game against the Orioles, winning 3-1 at Steinbrenner Field. Gil dominated the game, striking out seven and showing improved life on his fastball. The team's manager, Aaron Boone, expressed hope that this performance could be a sign of things to come for Gil. Gil's improvement was attributed to his release point being raised higher than previously, making him closer to the 2024 version of Gil. The Yankees are yet to decide on whether to start the season in a four- or five-man rotation. If they go with four starters, Gil or Ryan Weathers may be the odd man out of the rotation.
