A local middle school teacher, Laurentino Huerta-Garcia, has resigned and pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of annoying or molesting a minor in a plea deal that allows him to avoid jail but requires him to register as a sex offender for 10 years. The student reported that Huertas began inappropriately touching her when she was 12 years old. The plea deal also includes a one-year probation term and a day already spent in jail.
