Raw Farm, a California-based raw cheese producer, has declined to recall two of its products after the Food and Drug Administration linked them to a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections, which can cause serious kidney problems and lead to hospitalization or death. The company's raw cheddar cheese has been linked to seven cases, four of which are in children ages 3 or younger, and two patients have been hospitalized. The FDA is working with state agencies to test the company's two raw chedel products for E. E.E. coli. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people not eat any of the affected products and wash items and surfaces that have come in contact with the raw cheeses.
