The White Sox anthem singer, Michael Chaney, collapsed during the performance of the national anthem and was transported to the hospital for treatment and further tests. The incident occurred during a celebration of Jackie Robinson Day. Chaney was immediately administered with medical attention and was taken off the field. The game was delayed until a first pitch of 6:30 p.m.
