The Daily Princetonian has reported that AI-driven cheating is becoming more prevalent at elite universities, despite the university's $38 billion in endowment funds. According to a 2025 survey, 29.9 percent of students admitted to cheating on at least one assignment or exam. This cheating is easier at Princeton than other universities due to its lack of professors' ability to monitor exams. Most of this cheating is done through generative AI. The university's honor code, which dates back to 1893, prevents students from observing their students' in-class tests and from reporting other students' cheating.
