Two 14-year-olds were seriously injured in a crash while riding an e-bike in Bergen County, New Jersey. The crash occurred at the intersection of Jewell Street and Columbus Avenue in Garfield. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The former governor of New Jersey signed a e-bicycle safety bill into law before he left office, citing a rise in fatal crashes. The law includes all types of e-vehicles, from those pedaled to fast e-moto bikes, to those that are like motorcycles. However, riders who are 14 or younger cannot use motorized bicycles and scooters under the law.
