Scientists from the Mullard Space Science Laboratory in Dorking, Surrey, will assist in launching a spacecraft that will orbit more than 120,000 km above the North Pole. The project, named "Smooth," aims to imassively image the magnetic bubble and improve predictions of space weather for future space missions. It will also be the first mission to continuously observe the northern lights caused by solar winds for 45 hours. The mission is a joint effort between University College London, the University of Leicester, and the European Space Agency, with funding from the UK Space Agency.
