Dario Hansen, the director of "Little Sinner," co-directed with Danish director-editor Thomas Papapetros, will premiere her debut feature film at the Copenhagen Intl. Documentary Film Festival, CPH:DOX on March 15. The film, which covers nearly two decades, is an intimate portrait of Hansen's struggle to confront a traumatic past marked by forced marriage, family betrayal, and exile. Hansen, who was raised in a non-Muslim family, describes her journey to freedom after being trapped in a violent marriage where her mother failed to protect her and sent her back to her violent husband, whom she calls "the monster". She credits for helping her escape when the Syrian civil war broke out in 2011. Hansen hopes the film will inspire people to find a shorter way home to themselves than her own.
