Blizzard slams Minnesota, snarling travel across Twin Cities

A massive late-winter storm, which swept across Minnesota, caused significant disruption to travel across the state and created "nearly impossible" conditions for drivers. The storm, one of the strongest in March in Minnesota, dropped between 5 to 14 inches of snow across much of the Twin Cities and their suburbs, with the heaviest totals being in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The National Weather Service Meteorologist, Jacob Beitlich, expressed concern about potential wet roads freezing before the Monday morning commute and potential wind disruption. Major snow emergencies were declared in Minneapolis and St. Paul, with over 725 flights cancelled over the weekend. The governor has activated the Minnesota National Guard to assist if necessary.
