Narcotics detector dogs help officers seize $675K worth of marijuana at BWI Airport

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have seized 247 pounds of marijuana in four London-bound baggage at Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Thurgood Marshall Airport. The drugs were discovered on Feb. 6 and March 11 respectively, respectively, with a total of 116 pounds and nearly five pounds of hashish found in the baggage of two travelers from Baltimore. The marijuana seized had a street value of about $675,000 in the U.S., which could be significantly higher in Europe. Despite the decriminalization of marijuana, marijuana possession and use continues to be illegal under federal law. All the passengers were released, but investigations continue and may face charges later.
