The Missouri Senate has passed a bill aimed at limiting "sue and settle" lawsuits against small businesses, which are often filed for violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The bill would offer protection to small businesses who have been sued for having violated this law. This comes after an investigation revealed that at least 136 businesses in the state had been sued over website accessibility violations. The legislation would allow businesses to fix these issues within 90 days and allow them to challenge lawsuits. Lawmakers must now agree on a final version of the bill before it can be officially sent to Gov. Mike Kehoe's desk.
