Philanthropist Tom Golisano has donated the largest gift to Akron Children’s Hospital in its history, making an unrestricted gift of $50 million. The funds will be used to develop clinical services in underserved communities across Northeast and Southeast Ohio, expand congenital heart and cancer care, increase access to behavioral health services, and establish new programs to increase patient engagement and nursing excellence. The hospital will also use the funds for research that aims to improve child health and the delivery of care throughout the region. The gift will enable the hospital to join a national network of 15 children's hospitals focused on improving pediatric healthcare delivery and ensuring children and families have access to high-quality, compassionate care.
