Pope Leo XIV is under fire from President Donald Trump, who has called for peace amid the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran, and has also clashed with other leaders, including Vice President JD Vance and the US Catholic Conference of Bishops. Despite these tensions, many Catholics believe Leo's everyman affability is contributing to a global resurgence in Catholicism, particularly among young people. Despite this, many believe his stance on peace and non-political issues hasn't undermined his credibility. A survey conducted by the USA TODAY Network found that over two-thirds of American Catholic voters hold a favorable opinion of the pope, while over 60% of Americans approve of him.
