‘Sound of Falling,’ Berlin Winner ‘Yellow Letters’ Lead German Film Awards Nominations

The 2026 German Film Awards, known as the Lolas, are leading the nominations for the family drama Sound of Falling and the Berlin Film Festival winner Yellow Letters. The Lolas are Germany's equivalent of the Oscars and are also known as "the Lolas". Sound of Fiftift received 11 noms, while Yellow Letters received nine. In the best director category, they will compete with Simon Verhoeven's comedy Ach, diese Lücke, which received seven noms. The German Film Academy unveiled the nominees for the 76th edition of the German Film awards on Tuesday. The awards ceremony will take place in Berlin on May 29.
