The Texas Republican Senate primary will go to a May runoff, with longtime Texas Senator John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton advancing to a showdown. The primary race has been the most expensive in history with over $125 million spent on advertising. Despite not endorsing a candidate prior to the March primary, President Donald Trump has endorsed Cornyn, praising him as a "great senator" and "a great Attorney General". The winner of the Democratic primary will have the chance to campaign for the general election for nearly three months.
