RHYEN STALEY: What Cesar Chavez’s Fall Reveals About Our Schools

The downfall of Cesar Chavez, a leftwing icon, has highlighted the dangers of prioritizing the advancement of far-left ideology over protecting the vulnerable. Many K-12 districts across the country are still engaging in practices that prioritize social justice over transparency and federal law. This follows a scandal involving an adult illegal immigrant allegedly groping and sexually assaulting female students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in Virginia. The U.S. Department of Education initiated enforcement actions against FCPS for violating the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment. Meanwhile, nearby Loudoun County Public School (LCPS) captured national headlines for a cover up scandal where a male who identified as a girl was accused of raping a second female student. Staley argues that over 1,200 districts have policies that allow students to use facilities based on their chosen gender identity and require teachers and staff to keep it a secret from parents. These policies have serious consequences as some states and districts still allow males to participate in sports based on gender identity, leading to preventable injuries and sexual assaults.
