IndyCar had another push to pass software failure during the Grand Prix of Long Beach, where the system was mistakenly enabled for all drivers, violating series rules for restarts. This incident occurred during a Lap 61 restart and only 12 cars improperly used the system, but officials determined it did not significantly impact the race outcome. The system allows drivers to gain an additional 50 horsepower for short bursts when it is enabled. The error was discovered during the race, with only Marcus Armstrong and Santino Ferrucci using nearly equal amounts of push topass. The incident has been noted as another setback for IndyCar, with Josef Newgarden's season-opening win at St. Petersburg being stripped of his career for using push to Pass illegally.
