Sgt. First Class Cory Hicks was injured in an Iranian drone attack in Kuwait six months ago that left six soldiers dead, including Master Sgt. Nicole Amor. The attack also wounded dozens more. Hicks, who suffered internal injuries, a shrapnel wound and facial fractures, was later diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. His family has expressed concerns about the lack of medical supplies and equipment available for such wounded soldiers. Dr. Greg Beilman, an ICU physician at the University of Minnesota and retired U.S. Army Colonel, suggested that timelines for care of wounded soldiers should be established within an hour or two of their injury.
