Syrian ex-colonel in London court on crimes against humanity charge

Salem Michel Al-Salem, a former Syrian general, has been charged with three counts of murder as a crime against humanity, one count of conduct ancillary to murder, and three charges of torture. The charges were denied to the public following a request from his defense team that could put him at risk. Al-salem is accused of killing two men in April 2011 and another in July 2011 as part of a systematic attack on civilians.
