Former San Antonio Spurs star George Gervin has defended his nickname, "Iceman," referring to Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who has applied to trademark the nickname. Despite this, he believes the nickname is already taken and plans to contest the trademark if it is granted to Williams. The application for the name, a logo, and two silhouettes mimic Williams' pose as he rolls left, jumped and completes a pass to Rome Odunze in a playoff win against the Packers. Grovin Interests LLC has filed trademark applications for both “Iceman” and “iceman 44” four days after Williams’ application was filed, four days later. The applications will be reviewed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in early November.
