Man Who Body Slammed SF Mayor's Police Guard Faces Assault Charges: DA

Tony Shervaughn Phillips, a 44-year-old man accused of intentionally injuring one of San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie's bodyguards during a scuffle, has been charged with assault and resisting an executive officer. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Prosecutors allege Phillips was part of a group of people who were blocking the street and became violent towards Lurie and two San Francisco Police Officers working as a security detail. An officer intervened and Phillips allegedly called the officer "Bruce Lee" and threatened to fight him. The officer suffered a concussion and a large head laceration.
