The City Council President of New Orleans has expressed concerns about the potential impact of Waymo on the company's growth plans. While self-driving cars are permitted in about half of the country, laws need to be changed in places like Washington, D.C., and New York, where a human operator is required to operate. The company replaced its global head of public policy last year with the help of the Department of Public Affairs.
