Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dave Matthews has been a pioneer in building out greener tours and using his music industry to raise money for environmental causes and reduce waste from his shows. His band, which was one of the first groups to partner with music sustainability nonprofit Reverb in 2005, has been instrumental in their green touring efforts, including monitoring carbon emissions and hosting eco-village pop-ups at their shows. The band has also adopted an initiative called "On the Road to Zero Waste" with concert promoter Live Nation, which has diverted 90 percent of fan waste from landfills. The group's advocacy has resulted in 750,000 fewer single use water bottles at shows, 750,00 fewer single-use water bottles, and 6 million trees planted globally through a partnership with The Nature Conservancy.
