Commission nears decision on Decatur Township data center proposal

The Metropolitan Development Commission is set to consider plans for a $4 billion data center in Marion County’s Decatur Township. Unlike the previous proposal requiring approval from the Indianapolis City-County Council, the project will be decided by the commission as the land is zoned as industrial and does not need to undergo a full rezoning process. Seattle-based company Sabey Data Centers LLC plans to build two buildings in a closed-loop water system to prevent water pollution and promises hundreds of construction and over 100 long-term jobs. However, residents have raised concerns about pollution and potential property values decreasing.
