Alex Alex, a 25-year-old Dorchester resident, has been campaigning to raise awareness of the city's litter problem in Boston. He collects fallen state and city government materials, including bus signs, broken traffic cones, and forgotten construction equipment, from City Hall plaza and leaves them there for public viewing. The goal is to raise public awareness of what Alex calls inaction from the city and a misallocation of resources. Alex has collected over 5,000 pounds of trash and other discarded materials in a year. He has had a few encounters with police around City Hall, but has only completed 16 hours of community service after being arrested for spray painting statistics about fatal car crashes outside of the State House.
