Peterborough City Council has launched a campaign called Ready Steady Grow, aimed at helping children under five prepare for school. The initiative aims to provide families with advice and activities focused on learning and "school readiness". It aims to increase the number of children achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD) by the end of their reception year, which includes skills such as following simple instructions, using cutlery and getting dressed independently. The council will also offer free play sessions for young children, parenting courses, and additional tailored support for parents who need extra help. Activities such as circus skills, forest school activities and exotic animal encounters are also being offered.
