Britain sets rules for final phase of fibre broadband roll-out

Britain has announced it will regulate BT (BT.L) Openreach's national broadband network for another five years, with a price cap on a wider range of speeds and plans to extend fibre connections to the final fifth of the country's premises. This decision is part of a wider effort to drive competition and increase access to full-fibre broadband across the country. The regulator will also cap the price Openreach can charge retail providers like Vodafone or Sky for download speeds up to 80Mbit/s, up from the current 40Mb.
