Rafael Caro Quintero and Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, two of Mexico's most notorious cartel figures, are set to go on trial in 2027 in a Brooklyn federal courtroom. The charges stem from the 1985 kidnapping, torture, and murder of DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena. Both men were arrested in 2025 and are accused of overseeing decades of drug trafficking operations. If convicted, they could face life sentences or the death penalty. The case is set to return to court for a status conference on June 17.
