The Artemis program, the nation's moon-to-Mars program, has resulted in thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in Florida, according to NASA estimates. The Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) on the Orion spacecraft, which is installed on the spacecraft's Orion spacecraft at Kennedy Space Center, is among the most valuable items on board. The IMU, which contains gyroscopes and sensors, is designed to detect where the spacecraft is located at any time during a mission to the moon. Honeywell Aerospace, which manufactures these components, supplies them to Orion’s main contractor Lockheed Martin for the spacecraft. Florida has benefited from over 13,000 jobs and $3 billion in annual spending from the Artemis effort, making it one of the most lucrative cash cows in state history. Taxpayers have spent more than $100 billion on the program across various platforms.
