The United States and Israel are engaged in a regional war with Iran, with daily life becoming increasingly tense. Despite this, public anger towards the United States is notably low, with senior Gulf figures avoiding publicly blaming the US for its decision to confront Iran. Instead, they are focusing on Tehran, not Washington, as their actions set the conflict in motion. The UAE is reducing the volume on overnight mobile phone alerts to help residents sleep. Despite years of slow rapprochement and assurances from Gulf Arab states that their territory would not be used to attack Iran, Iran has since struck Gulf Arab territory on day one and has rattled Gulf capitals ever since. The trajectory is expected to shift towards a major shift in security and defence posture, with some expecting a shift towards China or Europe.
