University Heights, Ohio, has hired an architectural firm, DLR Group, to design a new police and fire station on the grounds of city hall. The firm, based in Cleveland, has designed institutional structures across the United States, including the Ismaili Center in Houston, the Terminal 1 Port of Vancouver in Washington State, Compton High School in California. The city will pay DLR 7 percent of the total project cost, if the project comes in at $17 million. Meanwhile, University Heights is awaiting to confirm if it will receive federal discretionary funding for the project. The new police station would be built where the current station is located, with the police department operating out of the current building being demolished to make room for a new building.
