U.S. Congress honors Nazi prosecutor Benjamin Ferencz, of Delray Beach, with posthumous Gold Medal

The U.S. Congress honored Benjamin Berell Ferencz, one of the chief prosecutors at the Nuremberg trials, with a posthumous Congressional Gold Medal. The medal is the highest civilian accolade and was unveiled during a ceremony at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C. The process of receiving the medal usually takes several years, with the unveiling taking place in 2022. Ferecz, a Delray Beach resident, was born in 1920 to a Hungarian Jewish family and dedicated his life to pursuing justice and the primacy of the law. He also supported the International Criminal Court established in 2002.
