49ers’ Kyle Shanahan doesn’t mask feelings about Australian opener

The 49ers are set to open their next season with the NFL's debut in Australia against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 11. The game is expected to attract over 100,000 fans and is set to be played in Melbourne Cricket Ground. Despite the logistical challenges, Kyle Shanahan is not optimistic about the opening in Australia, as well as another international game later in the season in Mexico City. He is entering his 10th season, equal to Bill Walsh for the longest tenure in 49ers' coaching history. Shanahan's contract with the 49ers runs for at least two more seasons.
