The potential sale of the Padres to the Seidler family is on the rise after a second round of bids approached the $3.5 billion mark. The eventual sale could be the largest in Major League Baseball history. The Seidlers put the team up for sale in November, two years after the death of controlling owner Peter Seidled. Of the four bidders, Joe Lacob, Dan Friedkin, Tom Gores, Jose E. Feliciano, and Joe Lacop, the principal owner of the Golden State Warriors, the WNBA’s Valkyries and the Chase Center, are leading one group. The Padres are currently valued at $2.1 billion, ranking 10th in the league.
