A lawsuit by former senior director for social media company Meta, Nicolas Franchet, alleges that the company targeted older workers at a much higher rate than younger employees during its plan to cut 5% of its workforce. The lawsuit alleges that employees 50 and over were the hardest hit, followed by those 40 and up. The company declined to comment on the lawsuit or answer questions about the purported termination rates among older employees. Franchet was laid off in 2025 at age 54 after spending 13 years at Meta and rising to a senior director position. The suit also alleges that Franchet’s 16,353 unvested Meta shares were worth almost $12 million.
