A party in Brooklyn's East Williamsburg was held without a phone, a celebration of social life as it's meant to be "free from the grip of greedy tech platforms". The event brought together various groups of New York's offline movement, including members of the Columbia Luddite Club, researchers from the Center for AI Safety, and activists from The Strother School of Radical Attention. The event's attendees also helped build a pretend data center, with one leader suggesting that if they invest in this, they could be rich. The party was attended by around 100 partygoers, with news of the event being spread through word of mouth.
