The Howell Township Council has postponed action on several controversial ordinances due to an overcapacity crowd of residents. The ordinances, which would make changes to some residential zoning rules, would require every commercial business in the township to obtain a merchantile license. The crowd exceeded the capacity limits for the main meeting room and an overflow room under fire safety codes. The council adjourned the meeting without taking action on the ordinances. The final hearings of these ordinances will be held at a later date.
