Washington state Attorney General Nick Brown has filed a civil suit against prediction market platform Kalshi, alleging that the company violates state gambling and consumer protection laws by operating an online betting service that allows users to bet on sports, elections, wars, and other events. The suit seeks to shut down Kalsh's operations in Washington, recover money lost by state residents and assess civil penalties. This is part of a larger wave of state actions against KALShi, which is already facing over 20 civil lawsuits. The complaint criticizes KalsHI's advertising and marketing to young people, including college student influencers, for allegedly circumventing state law.
