The Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to terms with Fernando Mendoza on a four-year contract worth $57.2 million and includes a $38-million signing bonus. His mother, Elsa, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008 and is still battling the disease, returned to Indiana during an appearance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Brickyard 400 and spoke about her son's Raiders contract for the first time. Elsa praised Indianapolis and IU for their support, stating they would have never had this opportunity without this city and without the coaches and without IU. However, Fernando Sr. said it was a relief to have the deal settled before the season starts.
