The 9th Congressional District’s Democratic primary is set to take place outside Chicago, with two factions of left-wing Democrats opposing each other. One of the candidates is anti-Israel, Palestinian-American Kat Abughazaleh, who has run a social media-oriented campaign geared towards the youth vote. Meanwhile, another is a mini endorsement battle between the two liberal factions, with representatives from "squad" Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib endorsing Abughazealeh in the final hours of the campaign. On the other hand, several powerful Democrats have endorsed Daniel Biss, including Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Congressional Progressive Caucus Chairman Greg Casar of Texas, and Pramila Jayapal of Washington.
