The family of Jamar Thomas, who was killed in a downtown shooting and nephew Lamonte Thomas, are challenging the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's account of the incident, claiming that race played a role in how the case has been handled. The March 7 shooting left Jamar dead and Lamonte, who is currently in jail, behind bars. The family has demanded the release of surveillance footage and the dismissal of charges against Lamonte. They argue that the victims were unarmed and were simply picking up food when they were targeted. The primary grievance is that there is a racial disparity in the investigation.
