South Huntington Board President Earns Top NY Education Honor For Leadership

The Friend of Education Award is given to non-administrators who have significantly contributed to advancing educational opportunities in New York State. The award was given to South Huntington Board of Education, where Ciappetta has served more than 20 years as president. His leadership has included a sustained effort to expand academic access, strengthen school-community partnerships, and support high-quality education. During his tenure, the district has significantly expanded its academic offerings, including expanding its Advanced Placement program to 31 courses and increasing participation across all student groups. Additionally, the school has invested in modern learning environments, including a cybersecurity lab, marine biology research facility, media production center, and art gallery.
