Carlos Mendoza’s lineup shakeup pays off but it still wasn’t enough

The Mets lost 11-6 to the A's in a game at Citi Field, despite manager Carlos Mendoza's changes to the team's lineup succeeding. The team had only managed three runs in their previous four games and had not scored in 17 of their previous 17 innings. The changes were made after Bo Bichette was moved to the cleanup spot and Luis Robert Jr. moved to second and third place, with Jorge Polanco returning to the lineup after a two-game absence due to a calf strain and Achilles bursitis. Despite these changes, the team failed to overcome a 7-1 deficit before Luke Weaver's four-run performance in the eighth inning.
