GOP Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) has suggested that the Secret Service should reconsider whether President Trump and Vice President Vance should attend public events together following the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) gala shooting. McCaul, who attended the event, noted that if the president cannot perform his duties, the vice president and House speaker are next in line. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen, is expected to be arraigned on two charges related to using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche also indicated that the suspect could be charged with attempting to assassinate Trump depending on his motivation.
