South East Water (SEW) expects the return of water supplies to approximately 6,000 homes and businesses in West Kent on Friday. The problem was caused by a burst pipe on a key main from Bewl Water Treatment Works in East Sussex. Two schools had to close due to lack of water supply. The repairs proved more complex than expected. An investigation into South East Water was initiated by Ofwat in January after repeated water supply failures.
