Bill Cosby, a legendary comedian known for his criticism of other comedians, was allegedly targeted by Tom Smothers, one of the most vocal critics in the 1970s. The feud reportedly began when Smothering, who instigated it due to Cosby's criticism about the Vietnam War and not being vocal about it during the Civil Rights Movement, escalated into a heated exchange when Cosby allegedly sucker-punched Smother's from behind at a party at the Playboy Mansion in 1976. The pair never met again and the feud was never resolved until Smothera's death in 2023.
