Benet girls basketball coach Joe Kilbride has announced his retirement, ending his 12-year coaching career with a 325-55 record, two Class 4A state titles and five state trophies overall under him. He was known for his role model for his players and fostering growth both on and off the court. Kelsey Coulter, who has been on Kilbrides' staff for his entire tenure, will succeed him. Kilbrid had been an assistant for nine seasons under Illinois High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Famer Peter Paul, who retired in 2014 after posting a 617-261 record in 28 years. Former student-athletes from Benet, including Illinois Ms. Basketball winners Kathleen Doyle and Lenee Beaumont, played in the 2015 and 2016 state titles.
