Washington-based wastewater treatment startup, Sedron Technologies, has announced it is being acquired by global equity firm Ara Partners for up to $500 million. The investment will help facilitate the deployment of Sedron's sewage and manure cleaning technologies, giving Ara a controlling stake in the business. The company is developing facilities that efficiently and sustainably treat sewage biosolids and dairy waste. It generates revenue from municipalities and farms that use their services and from the sale of organic fertilizer and clean energy produced at the sites. The startup's second line of business is managing manure from livestock operations, which is one of the biggest costs for a dairy farmer. Sedron’s system takes municipal biosolid and dries the material in an energy efficient thermal dryer, which also destroys PFAS “forever chemicals” contaminating wastewater.
