Unemployed 27-year-old woman from Osaka Prefecture, 27, has been arrested by Osaka Prefectural Police for allegedly defrauding a 22-year old fan out of over 2 million yen by promising to introduce her to a male idol. The suspect, a resident of Ibaraki City, was arrested on suspicion of fraud and violating the Act on Punishment of Organized Crimes. She allegedly first connected with the victim via a Line OpenChat in September of last year, claiming she was acquaintances with the male idol's manager if she paid an introduction fee. She then escalated the scam to an additional 2.05 million yen in cash and electronic money across nine transactions. The victim discovered the scam when she went to a designated meeting spot in Tokyo in December, only to find no one waiting for her. The funds were used for living expenses and entertainment, and police are investigating whether she has committed similar crimes against other victims.
